Lycombe or contantial ground power unit

An aircraft engine can be adapted to generator use, but it is pricey to use air certified equipment. a VW engine, Corvair engine, or Dutz engine would be far less money, and easier to adapt and regulate with governor etc. JimN

Good luck. I think most of the Lycoming O-290 powered GPUs were snatched up years ago by experimental aircraft builders. You can find the engines for sale, but parts are getting scarce. Check out barnstormers.com, they usually have a few O-290s listed. You might find a complete GPU from time to time. Another place to check out is govliquidation.com

Lycoming and Continental today manufacture
aircraft engines, but for most of their history
made industrial engines. Lycoming made heavy
duty truck engines in the 30s, and made engines
for CORD and AUBURN autos, now considered classics
International purchased truck engines from them.
Continental made every size of engine, including
multifuel truck engines during the Viet Nam era.
They both made small 1, 2, and multi cylinder
"Military Standard" engines for the goverment
that were used in generator sets, and aircraft
starting "ground power" units

I've got a couple of continental ground power units. 6 cylinder, need mag work. Running condition. I'm in north florida. Shoot me an email if interested.
