Lost another dealer

Heard at the coffee shop today that we lost another implement dealer. McCormick Equipment south of Ionia Michigan. I didn't notice last time I went by there that they were closed, everything was still sitting around, but somebody said the bank shut them down in late November. I haven't seen a sale bill for a liquidation, but there was a lot of used stuff around there. They had several satalite service centers around Michigan too. Wonder what happened to them?

Lost our locally owned JD dealer in Walkerton/Chattsworth. Bought out by Huron Tractor.
My Father is still so ticked at the shoddy service from Huron tractor 35 years ago. He still won't deal with them today.

Most dealers around here are bracing for slow times for the next few years. The price of milk does not offer any hope and most around here count on dairy for the majority of their volume.
Most brands here (except AGCO) have multiple location dealerships. I would say most of the dealers are sized where they should be stable but you never know.

Yep, An Agco/Massey dealer he sold Simplicity too went out of business 2 years ago. That was in the Lapeer Mi. Area.
I see several dealers going down all within 50 or so miles for me. 1 will be an New Holland dealer, 1 will be a Case IH dealer and another will be possibly another Agco dealer.
There are 2 Case IH dealers within 30 miles or so of each other. (one in Frankenmuth and the other in Lennon. There are 2 NH dealers within 40 miles of each other. (one in Auburn hills and the other in Flint)

Tough times, credit is tight, farmers dont make piles of money and a new tractor is not a absolute must have.

I live 30 miles from Nolans in Lapeer right on M-24. I have not been up that way in at least 3 years. That place is a Deere dealer I think, I have never been in there. (I dont know what else they sell)

Have you heard anything about West Michigan Power and Equipment going under? I was at a little restaurant in Grant the other day and heard a guy say Case Credit had went in and took all the equipment it had a hand in. A bunch of it came to Sparta Farm and Lawn, that explains the 2 long lines of equipment that showed up there about 2 weeks ago. Gary Lewis had 2 dealerships, the ag dealership in New Era, supposedly the largest Case dealer in the state, and an industrial dealership down in Grandville on 196. I have yet to hear of a sale and haven't had a chance to get up home to hear the local gossip. I did go by the industrial lot Sunday and there were only 3 tractors left.

Now that you mention it,the Farm Trader came yesterday. They always have a big ad in there. There isn't one this month,so somethings going on.

lad to hear they shut down, they were idiots to deal with.coobie

Thought that place looked pretty shut down the last few times I went thru there last few times.
Never had anything that cought my eye in their inventory.

Tri-County out of Sandusky bought out the Deere side of Nolans and turned it into a full line ag dealer. McCormick's is having a close out auction soon.
