12v generator

When you order a new 12v generator for a oliver 77D, should they come with a regulator? I assume they should, but when my dad picked it up from a local implement dealer, I just told him to put it down in the shop, and never really looked at it. This was back in september, and now I am getting aroung to getting the engine back together and I was gonna put the the generator back on, and I realized the regulator wasnt there. I gave them a core. Should I have to specify to include a regulator? Thanks
 
I doubt if they come with a regulator. But I would put a new one on anyway if I was putting a new gen on. Might save a lot of trouble later.
 
Seperate parts . Kind of like a neighbor that thought a then new 1963 494A corn planter should have come with a hydraulic cylinder
 
The Voltage Regulator wouldnt normally come with a generator. Make sure you Polarize that new genny BEFORE you start the tractor.
