OT The Best Boot Strings

This may sound kinda dumb but tonight I broke another boot string and my stash of them has run out up here at college and I thought maybe one of you guys may know of "the unltimate boot string" and could clue me in. The original Red Wing strings that came with the boots held up pretty good.

I bought a pair of leather ones and no more trouble with them coming untied. Ot the top I ctoss the strings and then run around the top of boot and cross and tie. I think they will last but have only had for about a month.

My old Red-Wings (30+ yrs old) are on their 2nd Leather laces...
Just treat them well with "Snow Seal" once a year..BEST leather treatment --bar-None..!!!
I use a hair-dryer to heat the boot and let it soak in as much as it will and wipe the rest off..
'Been soled a time or two, but the uppers are finer than harness leather..
They are same as new, yet..!
Ron.

Find a local Red Wing dealer, every one I've gone into will give me replacement strings, no questions asked. (Other than, "are your boots Red Wings?") I've offered to pay for the strings, explaining that I bought the boots elsewhere, but they always say they don't care where I bought my boots.

The Danner laces are a bit better than the Red Wing laces, in my experience. But since Red Wing now makes Danner they may be the same.

Melt the ends and paint about an inch with super glue and replace as needed.

Thanks for all the replies guys I never thought about leather strings and snow seal and i will have to see about getting those danner/redwing laces.

Bought a new pr.of Georgia lace boots 6 weeks ago w/comfort soles and my feet hurt so bad at night I cannt sleep. No more of those.

RED WINGS, been there, done that, mine lasted
forever, but the most uncomfortable shoe that
i've ever worn. Factory laces were ok. For me
the most comfortable were "Herman Survivers",
they may not make them anymore.
