We have a 48 Ferguson TO-20. It still has the 6 volt systen and always starts and runs well. Our problem is it runs too well. When the clutch is pushed down it fails to disengage. Once the brake is tapped it releases. This causes a problem in tight quarters. Any quick fix or suggestions???

Clutch plate must be sticking ,and if this is a continuing problem,it could be dangerous to operate.I would consider spliting the tractor and clean or replace the clutch plate and throw out bearing. Also clean up the flywheeland check for rear main seal leak. Also might try slipping the clutch to bubn off oil on flywhell for a getby fix.

The Shop service manual outlines clutch rebuilding. It is avaialble at a few different sites for ~16.00. most places have it fro $39.

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS, TRIED THE ADJUSTMENT LONG AGO AS I HOPED THAT WAS ALL IT WAS. GUESS I'LL SPLIT THE BEAST WHEN IT GETS WARMER.

I would put the front end up against a tree and put it in 4th gear and at about half throttle, slip the clutch a little pushing against the tree. You don't want to get it too hot but still burn off a little of the oil on the clutch that is causing your problem.
