Kubota mx5100 - Round baler?

I'm looking at upgrading from an IH 384 to a Kubota MX5100. The Kubota will certainly handle everything I'm doing today - small square baler, 2 bottom plow, sickle bar mower, some loader work.

I'm worried though if I was to upgrade to a small round baler whether its going to have the weight to do it. The more I look at it the smaller it seems - lighter even then the 384 I have now. I know I can add weight, but I do have some rolling hills on the hay feilds.

Otherwise, it seems like a great machine. I'm looking for something reliable, and thats going to last me. I still have an mf 35 for when I'm feeling nostaligic.

Any thoughts or experiences on this size tractor with a 4x4 round baler would be appreciated.

Adding weight makes the tractor heavier, but does not make the frame or driveline stronger. Just something to consider vs getting a bigger tractor.

My neighbor has a pretty big NH round baler. He tried out several Kubotas, the M5700 being the smallest. It pulled it OK in rolling hill country but he opted for an M6800. The MX5000 would be the smallest Kubota that would handle it but, in my opinion, it would be marginal. Latest version is the MX5100.

You could pull a 4x4 or 4x5 small round baler, I pull one with my L5030HSTC in some hills and it doesn't mind at all. Its actually easier than the square baler I find.

I've never had a problem with weight for tractor but my rears have 1600 lbs of calcium in them. I usually take my loader off as it saps a bit of power going up the steepest hills. I've never needed to use 4wd with the rounder.

My tractor weighs in at 6500-6800 range on the scales and dropping the loader is about 1100 lbs off that. I can't imagine the MX5100 is a lot lighter.

Neighbours had a 484 and my tractor is heavier than that.
