1951 Super C Axle question?

My Dad and I restored a 1951 Farmall Super C this year. It was in pretty bad shape and we had a parts tractor. It was also a 1951 model. The original tractor had grooves wore in the axle, so we replaced them with the axles from the parts tractor because they were perfect. Now on the inside end they are different. On the other side of the bull gear, one was held in by a little plate with two bolts( the worn axle) and the other was held by heavy snap rings, which were a pain in the rear to get on and off. I'm just curious if anyone has any idea why they would be different because they are the same year model, did IH just change it. I guess it doesn't make a difference, but I'm just wondering. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. I'd love for anyone to search "Erbaugh" in the tractor photos and look at our tractors. Thanks

Not sure what to tell you. My SuperC parts catalog is a May 1960 version, and it doesn't make reference to anything other than the retainer with the two 3/8" NF bolts that you describe. In my experience, if they changed anything like that, the book would show both and the serial number break betweeen them. And I seriously doubt there were was any re-engineering SuperC axles after 1960.

The only snap ring I see in that part of the assembly is a retainer for the bull pinion shaft, the one your brakes operate on, not the bull gear.
