Regarding your post about a NEF .223 rifle a page or two back, Yeah, grab it - you'll regret it if you don't. I'll regret it if you don't!

Son had a larger caliber, repeating bolt action available, that we regularly used for deer hunting. Normally we both carry a .243, or .240. Both have far more firepower than the .223. Bullet is twice as heavy, traveling at about the same speeds. That's why I had to do sone kicking!

Gotta say, however, the Nosler Ballistic tip load I had made up for varmints did a job on the small buck. Was good eating. And the deer herd needs trimming around here.
 
Thanks, there are alot of folks round here use'n the smaller guns for deer anymore. Some of the high priced ammo can be had in Nosler Partition rounds. They work pretty good on deer. My brother has been hunting for the last few years with a 22-250 with them and they work great. I know a few others that use 223's with good luck.
