OT: Farming discussion forum

I am thinking about starting to farm my own 40 acres of cropland that I am currently renting out. I want to find a good farming discussion board for small farms. This one is good for tractors, tools and implements but I figure that there is probably some out there in cyberspace that would get into the details of farming and I could ask alot of questions there. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Bob

I learned alot from the good folks right here. I also started farming my own ground this past year, land that renter continually insisted he was in the red every year for the past 20 years, I made good money this year, but all prices were historically high. I am anxiuous for "09 growing season as I have learned alot of what NOT to do, and what to do differently. Good luck on your venture.

Such questions get a pretty good responce right here, perhaps in the 'Using Your Tractor' forum.

The Homesteading one mentioned is good, but tends to be real small 5 acre farms.

Newagtalk is good but it tends to be bigger operations.

Tractorbynet dot com tends to be really good welders & folks with 5 acres and a compact tractor.

A lot of us kinda head to all of them from time to time, so you can't go wrong.

Try a question or 2 here tho, see what you get. The Using Your Tractor area is the place to be. :)

You in corn/soybean area, wet or dry?

I live in the piedmont area of NC. We have had soybeans, wheat, corn and cotton planted in the fields in the past. I am thinking more of raising cattle since I don't have the equipment needed to plant and harvest the crops. I was thinking of starting with a 10 acre field that is 3/4ths fenced in now.
