Corn prices, what do they have you thinking?

Local elevator- Cash-$3.12, N/C '09 $3.32, June/July Del $3.38. For those that didnt contract at the higher prices, and with costs what they were, I wonder how many out there will be taking a loss on alot of their corn. I am glad for the livestock producers because releif was needed, but unless inputs come down I think alot of people will back off corn this spring. I'm sticking with my plans as I am small and am only in it for fun and even at lower prices sure beats the dry ground rent I was getting.

We are still unsure as to what we will do for this year . The only thing that we might do is plant enough to fill two cribs . The bunker is 80% full and we could go three years at the currant rate of feeding before we would have to refill.

As I told my FIL, I think you are more likely to see $6.00 beans this spring than $6.00 corn.

I'm losing money but at least it's not $1.69 like it was for 10 years.
