Alternative Shop Uses

Who is getting maximum use from their shop? I thought I'd tell you what goes on in mine besides tractor work.
When I built it I had the south wall plumbed up, and a water discharge pit dug outside, Backfilled with red rock and sand for minimal use grey water discharge. So I put a washer and dryer there for really dirty shop towels, coveralls, bloody hunting pants etc.Hot water heater also.
Alongside that I installed an 8 foot stainless table. And close by above a rail for hanging deer to process. Deep sink beside that. So I have a great place to process small and large game. Cabinets above hold the bags, knives, grinder, and vacumn foodsaver. Cast iron skillets, and dutch oven. I do 90% of the game cooking there.
Then plumbed in a propane line for a cast iron double burner. This can be used for turkey fryer, or blackened fish or steaks. You don't want that cloud of blue smoke in the kitchen.
Close by is the chest deep freeze pretty much full of deer, ducks, geese, pheasant and walleyes and pike. Backup emergency 10k genny hooked up to the 200 amp power panel.I could pretty much survive there for two to three weeks until the radioactive cloud is gone.
Oh yeah, there is a shower, office and small bedroom to catch a nap. That area heated and ac by one of those Amana Motel Units.

I live in on older part of Omaha. 40' x 120' lot. Wanted a shop, so built a 20' x 30', with a single 9' door in the 20' side. The rest of the width I leave my cabinet making tools set up-can still pull the truck in. Thought I had put everything in there I could possibly do-UNTIL....Dad and I wanted to sell our long forgotten HO scale train set to help finance some updates to our AC WD. Well, the guy wanted to buy a piece at a time, so, I decided I wanted to set it up-but where? I used a hand boat winch, and I hang it above the pickup when not working on it! The grain elevator I built for it is on the bench in the background. Greg

That' about the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I built my kids a train table and it's set up pretty nice. But to store it, you unscrew the 4 legs. Then I have to man handle the thing up in the storage room where I hang it fromt he celing with baling wire. Needless to say once it gets hung up it stays there for a time.

Floors? Arn't they made out of wrenchs, screwdrivers, various nuts, bolts, spent parts and other junk with a grease and oil binder?

Must be nice. My heated 2-1/2 car garage/shop has parking room for one vehicle. The rest contains a few tools and ........rabbits, gardening stuff, winter clothes, rabbit feed, kid's stuff, wife's stuff, snowmobile(broken again) and one escaped rabbit we haven't been able to catch for 3 weeks. Little round black presents on top of everything.

I assemble new equipment for local dealser in mine and it basically has turned into full time work. need to expand hopefully. currently doing great plains twin row planters 9 waiting to do as of now

When Im not into a tractor project, like right now,I get the woodstove fired up and some of the boys come over to shoot the bull, drink whiskey and ginger and try to figger out how some of em are cheating at the pulls! Hoss
