I think this summer I may want a bigger trailer.
Cant seem to find any thing older than a 2003 out there.
Are these things just junk after 5 years? Would like to spend 2 grand or so for a used one.
Any ideas?

I used to have this one.

It was a late 80s in pretty good shape, but little lite, needed new tires and only had brakes on one axle. I sold it this fall for $3500.00. Upgraded to this 05 delta for 4200.00. Would have cost the difference to put new tires on the old one.

If I dont find one I guess I may bit the bullet and spent the $4500 for a new one. Seen lots and lots of those.
Seems that before I started looking at them I saw lots for $2000. Now ofcourse.

Same happened with my Cutting torch. Before I wanted one I saw them all over the place for $150/ $200 bucks.
Then i wanted one. Gave up after 4 years and purchased a new set with tanks.
Guess what I saw on craigs list a week after?

Argg... its hard work being a cheap skate some times.

I priced new, could never find one set up the way I wanted for under 5k. They list for aound 4,800+ bare bones locally. There were several out there anywhere from 3,500-5,000. This one had the full 10" I beam, spare tire, & pop-up dove tail. Looked to be a little better built that some of the others I had looked at.

Kelly, don't know where you are but not going to get much for that out here (west coast). I have a 20 ft with 9 ft deck on the neck new deck, tires, brakes and wiring $2500.00 and no takers so guess I will keep it.

I doubt that thy are junk after 5 years. They're handier than a shirt pocket and people just hang on to them.

Yep,my 22' tri axle was pretty well rusted out from the center axle all the way back to the tail lights. I flipped it upside down with the loader in front of the shop door, cut it off and welded new steel back in. Built a whole new frame and beavetail for it. Less than $250 for the steel. A whole lot cheaper than a new one.

No such thing as a good used gooseneck trailer Here is a picture of a 25 footer my son bought new las summer for for under four grand with 4 wheel brakes and break away brakes.

Keep looking they're out there. I found a 1961 mdae by GOOSENECK tandum axle duals gross weight 20,000 lb on a dealer baak lot. It had been used in salt water and not cleaned up so I had to rebuild it. But I have real strong 20 foot trailer. Course after I added up the rebuild costs i could have bought a new one.

I bought a used 99 Moritz tandem dual on ebay about 1 1/2 years ago. Thought I got a heck of a deal for 4000. Picked it up in June and spent the entire summer working on it making it just useable. Needed 7 new tires, even though he said all tires were good. 10 ply tires! You know, the ones that run about 200 bucks each. I lucked out, 1 out of the 8 was almost new. The guy told me it had hydraulic brakes. I thought that sounded good. I asked him what kind of hydraulic brakes, he said he wasn't sure, but he pulled it with his 1 ton dodge p/u. Vacuum over hydraulic brakes. No good for my 02 Chevy. Easy fix. Just had to put a 700 dollar electric over hydraulic actuator on it. Not that any of the brakes worked. They were all seized up from sitting, which didn't matter as most of the brake lines were rusted through on the under side. Replaced all the decking on the dovetail as it had NONE. He threw in the lumber for that though. Felt bad because he misrepresented that fact in the ad. Rewired alot of the lights. Welded up the busted up ramps and it still needs paint. Its a nice trailer, but took some cash and a lot of cussing rusty nuts to get it there. I really didn't want to spend 7K+ on a new one, but I think I'm almost there with this one. IF I ever get another, I will definately go brand new.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but does a third axle on a GN reduce the amount of truck you need to pull it? Should remove some hitch weight and give another set of brakes to help stop.

I can't find a usable gooseneck for $1000-$3000. I check the ads daily.
New 14000 lb goosenecks are $4500 - $5000. Used ones start at $3000. The axle setups cost over $1100.

I have a good 32' tandem dual goose neck trailer for sale and I guarantee you it will haul more than your truck can pull,I am located in Carthage,Tx. if interested.
