O/T USS GW Bush

Did anyone happen to see the dedication cermony of the Carrier named after GW Bush this morning? There was no doom, and gloom. It was refreshing to see this. It is kind of depressing to continually turn on the news, and see someone trying to defend himself for being a crooked politation, or someome else wants a handout. Worse yet is a soon to be president trying to explain why he is going to put our country further in debt. Just a thought, I"m sure others my have a different opinion. Stan

Wasn't named after the current Bush but his Dad. Wonder what they'll name after the massiah???????? Don't go there........

Dave

You are so correct on the name.It is the USS George H.W. Bush. (CVN77) I guess I just hear G.W too much. Stan

You are a wicked person,,,, there is NO Massiah in the government,, unless you call the Devil that -- and there everywhere...

Anyone know why it was named after a living ex president? I didn't think Naval/Military ships were supposed to be named after someone, until that person was dead. For instance I didn't think one of the more recently commisioned carriers, the USS Ronald Regan, was named until after he was gone.

Camp Elliot is now houses. In facty the area wasen't cleaned up very well of unexploded ordnance. Two kids were killed some years back after finding something, that blew up on them. Stan

It was a wonderful ceremony and seems a wonderful ship. Yes it was really refreshing to see something so positive about our country again.

They should name a latrine trailer after the mulatto nnalert messiah.

An impressive ship and an impressive ceremony. She will be sailing for 40 or 50 years. I wonder how the world, threats, and warfare will change in that time.

YES I watched it on Fox but had to record the last half and then watch it after I got home from selling a heifer.

Not like the ships were when I was in.
I remember sailing pass the Kitty Hawk when going out to sea just after she was commissioned, really big and this one is even bigger.

dang, i missed that, would have loved to see it. my step dad was on the carrier antietam in the korean war. mother in laws neighbor was on the kitty hawk when it ran over the russian sub years ago. he said, boy everybody got in trouble over that one!!!

Appreciate your thoughts on this. I agree. But I must point out that it is the USS George H W Bush. George W is the current president. It was named for his father.

Someone else may have already pointed this out (I haven"t read the other entries on the topic)

I do not know were you got that info from, because the USS Ronald Reagan(CVN 76) is a navy ship. Ronald Reagan has no military service. His bio from the official presidential site list him as actor turn politician.
GHW Bush is a naval veteran.
Carter went to the navel academy. I did not know that.

Yes I know this is a tractor forum. I just thought things might be a little slow in the tractor dept, because of all the cold. Please explain the klan meeting comment. Stan

AMERICA can survive anything....... Just can't figure why you folks in other countries do so much whimpering about our business.

Dave

Yes. It really put on full display the strong family values of the Bush family, too. His daughter, Dorothy, gave the order to "Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines", or something like that. (;>))

Is this the same ship our present President, all dressed up in his flight jacket, stood on the deck and declared the victory in Iraq?
