John Deere1940 tranmission problems

I broke a shifting fork in the tran. when Iput the new one in and put it back togather. it will only go into first and reverse. when I try to shift to sec . the shifter comes out of first and just flots around and wont go back into any gear. I have both the shifting forks pointing in same direction. Is than right? Ihave 2 B John Deere Manuals but they dont show a 2speed tranmossion.

Only 1940 Mother Deere ever made was a "land leveler".

Because John Deere NEVER MADE a 2 speed transmission, the 1940 tractors were 4 speed transmissions with a hi-lo shift for to give 1 reverce and 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 forward. I told you when you posted before to find out exactualy what you do have then somebody will be able to help you but with you saying you have something that was never made then no one can help you.
