I have a propane stove, the gas co. comes and fills the tank once a year. Just got my bill,14.9 gallons, $102.68. WTF. I'm gonna buy a electric stove.Anyone else here getting screwed on the price of this stuff? I've never paid this much.

That is like 6.89 a gallon, I think something is wrong with your statement, I just had 278.7 gallons dilvered at 1.90 a gallom, came to 529.53. have to have it again in a month or two. I use it for heating the house and a cookstove, would never go back to an electric range, propane is much more easier to control the heat on to cook with. Just my 2 cents. Bob

Call the gas co. Sounds like a computer or human error. We heat, cook, and dry clothes with propane, but have two electric ovens. Usually only use one at a time, but sure is nice for Thanksgiving or Christmas. We also burn wood in a free-standing stove, that takes care of half of the main floor.

Don't cry guys, Down here in South Central N.M. we're paying $2.35 a gal, They say the cost is in them getting it delivered,,,,I say BS. they're just ripping us off and there's no one to go to to get it streightened out........Jim in N M

If 15 gallons will get you done for a year, just go get a 100 lb cylinder. They hold 22 gallons. Any Coop or RV place should be able to fill/exchange it for you.

dont know what the vote thing is all about, but thats how they charge(one fill per year)maybe its there tank. but anyway you can buy a tank at homedepot(100.00), plus you miht have to buy a regulator from gas co. 100 lb tank holds 28 gals water capicaty(24 gals gas)

The bill is 14.9 @ 5.990 per,89.39,plus $3.91 fuel recovery fee(whatever that is)plus $9.38 hazmat surcharge.This is in Md.

I suspect that you are dealing with Farell Gas. They are sending out bills for "tank rent" of $80 or $125/year. I have seen both. Then they charge an exhorbinate price per gallon of about $3/gal for the "small user". And then they have instituted a whole bunch of charges for "tank removal" and "pumping out" the tank, and about 20 other charges for their miscellaneous "services".

Just this afternoon I worked out the details for a different LP service from one of the area ag coops, which I purchase other items from already. Check aroung your area, many people around here are fed up and have switched to a more sensible supplier.

I'm willing to bet that it was that much because of filling such a small tank. Lucky they came out at all.

yep-sound like ferrelgas. They are trying to charge my dad 182 dollars for not buying gas from them. I am not making this up-new policy-they will never get the money. My dad has always paid his bills, but this is one that they will have to sue for.

Our Co-op here in N.E. Iowa has 1.56/gal right now, but they have minimum delivery of 200 gal. They will waive the minimum for smaller tanks they own and rent to the customer, provided they only go once or twice a year. Also, if you don't want to be on a "keep full" basis (you keep track of your tank level) and you run out, they have to pressure test your system for leaks ($25). If you call for same day delivery, add $50. If you let if run out on a weekend, add $150 (includes the above fees). The company wants all their customers to switch to a keep full basis- that way they can stop and fill your tank when they are in the area, saving them time and miles, and if you run out, no fees.
I talked to the driver and he said they had to do this, or they would be constantly be running out 50gals when the price changes. I can see his point.
Also, the regulations say the company is liable if you develop a leak and they fill your tank resulting in an explosion or asphixiation.
If you are paying minimum fees like the above, talk to them. You will probably save yourself some cash in the future, as any other company will have their own rules as well.
Also, check your delivery ticket to see if the driver wrote the correct amount of gallons on the ticket. The meter stamps the gallons. Make sure they are the same.

Have a 100 gal. tank for the garage they just filled. Took 56.1 gallons @ 2.999 + tax. Total 180.02 in Shelbyville In.

I just had my tank at my shop filled today at 2.19.9 from Skelgas at Crawfordsville in. I think part of the price is rent on a 100 gal. tank.

When your propane co. owns the tank you pay big time. I own my 100 LB tank, Cost me about $100.00 w/tax. I take it in and they fill it $48.00 w/tax. take it home and hook it back up. Saved over 100% to your cost

Propane has a price ceiling that the companies seem to ignore, the cost of electricity. Let it be known, I have alternatives to all my propane appliances. Price difference between retail and wholesale propane has never been greater.
Propane is a byproduct that's produced whether it's needed or not so let's not buy any and watch the suppliers drowned in it.

I can't believe they would even come out for such a small amount! What size is the tank? If you only use 15 gal/year you should be able to take it in and get it filled. Local FS has 200 gal minimun delivery, same for gas or diesel. I can't imagine that you expect them to come out and put in that small of an amount and not pay a premium for it. Chris

The "LEAK CHECK" is sometimes a BIG JOKE. At the start of heating season, went to a call for a LP gas leak at a local convenience store. I am a responder for the local Vol. Fire Dept. The gas company had came out earlier in the day, did a gas leak check and filled the tank. Go everyone out and started ventilating the building. I had to run one of the locals out, who did not realize what was going on. HE CAME IN THE BUILDING AND LIT A CIGARATE. wonder we did not have a BIG BANG. The next day the supply line to the furnace was check. Where the line came through the floor, it had numerous holes the size of a pencil lead in it. SO MUCH FOR THE LEAK TEST. I think the deliver driver check the leak test on the bill, but did not do the leak test and them fill the tank.

Around here it is illegal to haul a tank unless you are equipped to do it. You can't just put it in the back of a pickup and go.

Howdy Mike,
How's the weather there in Eastern New Mexico? I'm here in So. Korea again, and it is COLD. Take care, chat with you later.
