My AC 706 forklift has a Continental F162 engine in it. I went to start it today and the engine has no spark. I found that the distributor shaft was not turning when trying to start it. I tried turning it by hand and it would not turn. It seemed to be in gear with cam or crank - I not sure which runs it? Anyone on this site know why its not turning? Thanks.

id pull distributor out and see how the drive is on it. i think the cam or oil pump turns distributor .if it looks ok you can look into the block where distributor goes and turn engine over to see if cam is turning..

Yes, pull the distributor and you should find a hollow pin that fits in a slot that turns the shaft. It might be that the pin has snapped.

It runs off the cam. You have the dist in the head straight down or in the side at an angle, either way runs off the cam. The dist may have seized allowing the roll pin to shear. Sometimes on high hour engines the cam drive gear runs loose and shears the key. Most of these dists. have a grease fitting or oil cup on them and they must be lubed every once in a while or they dry out.
