OT Poled or Polled cattle

Polled cattled have no horns --- Poled cattle have a "pole" shoved up their a$$ so they can be put up a tree to eat acorns or hickory nuts.

Also, Pooled cattle are the ones that get out and decide to walk across a pond with < 2" of ice on it. I had some of those last winter.

Genetically bred to not have horns. The polled gene is dominant. This as opposed to dehorned cattle which have had the horns cut off or otherwise physically removed.

Dehorning cattle used to be called polling cattle. And all cattle with no horns were called polled. Cattle that never grew horns were called natural polled. How many know what a muley cow is? It is a cow without horns. I remembered when the term "natural muley" was used by a lot of folks.

It's been a long time since I've heard the term "muley" cow.

Your are correct; the term "natural muley" was a cow that never grew horns.

Thanks for the memory.
