If you know of a online source for resume format or some examples of a good resume I sure could use it thanks guys! Roy

There are a number of sites that give pointers. Monster.com has resume help. Career Builder may also be good.

I have been in a management position for a number of years and have seen all sorts of resumes. The important things are to have it clearly written, use bullet points to describe your previous accomplishments, and above all use spell check.

If you have Microsoft Word you will find resume templates contained in it. They are easy to follow.

Best of luck.

This web site should get you started. Hal
PS: Be truthful in your work history and schooling. Most places will check that.

Try this. Pretty much just fill in the blanks and it'll put things in order for you.

Good Luck.

PS.
The US Army is hiring and will give you better benifits than you'll find anywhere else.

yea I thought of that and if it weren't for my 2 girls I'd already be in that line but with no one willing to help watch my children when my wife is at work it is hard to leave them for any length of time. Kia motors has been hiring for their Ga. assembly plant $10 per hour and you have to go to Korea to train. by the time I were to drive to Lagrange from my home the cost of the trip would take much of the earnings. I found this job 25 min from my home and starts at $12-$15 per hour if I can land it

Most state unemployment offices have a free on line resume that you can print out or email directly to employers.

A resume' is NOT just a resume'---by that I mean your chances of landing a job are greatly increased if you can slant/tweak/emphasise (pick your own term) your resume' to highlight what the prospective employer is looking for---this's NOT lying, cheating or misrepresenting (altho there's lots of that going on in the scramble for jobs).
It's doing your best to stress the things your possible employer will see as good for him, and not overly dwelling on things he might see as negative. It's an art, and a resume'-writing industry has sprung up; whether one's available in your area, or you think is worthwhile gambling on using, only you can decide. Good luck.

I have been told-if at all possible-keep it all on one page! I have been changing jobs almost as often as my shorts lately, so mine keeps getting a smaller font LOL! Greg

If you don't need the program for anything else besides this, it wouldn't pay you to buy it. What I would do is buy a flash drive at an office supply store and head for your local community college. I am willing to bet they would help you out even though you don't go there (call ahead and ask first and also ask if someone could help you). They should have the latest software and staff to help you out. At my college they pay students to be availible to help people out, although right now is winter break for us here in VT, so finding someone during the next couple of week might be a little difficult. You can do your resume in their computer lab, print off the copies you need, and then save it on your flashdrive so you'll have it in the future. For extra points, you might want to buy a small amount of fancy paper, and then have them put it in their printer for the job to catch the eye of the person hiring.
Good luck!

I'd be happy to send you a copy of mine you could work from but the last time I tried ytmag email, it never worked. I'm jmfabregas at yahoo dot com. Basically list your name & address & phone or email, your objectives, your skills, then a brief job history. Try to get it on one page and I always got some fancy bond paper from a printer or stationary store, or took my file to a printer that could print it up for me with his computer and fancy printer. Good luck! joe-

Trust me..................over-inflated, hyped resumes hit the sh*tcan as soon as they are opened. Tell 'em what you can do, tell 'em where you done it before and tell 'em how to get in touch with you. Keep it short, no BS and no mis-spelled words.

Do more than spell check. Remember to, two and too are all words so spell check won"t catch them if you misuse them. Take time to proof read it and then have someone else read it for spelling and grammar. Set it aside for a day and then re-read it, you"ll be surprised at things you will find that need fixing.

Remember, your resume is your first impression.
If it is poorly organized, has poor grammar and/or misspelled words, in today"s job market, you will not make the first cut, regardless of how much knowledge or experience you have.

If you resume is going to be scanned, there are buzz words that will get you over the first hurdle. I have a friend who was looking for a job. He got no response from his sresume. His wife did some research, got the necessary buzz words, he inserted them in his rewrite and began getting responses within the week. It"s a shame that resumes are electronically sorted but that"s life in today"s business world.

Good luck.

(quoted from post at 17:39:23 01/05/09) buzz words
Good luck.

I had been doing a job for 7 years, position got upgraded and had to be reannounced. My resume didn't make the cut, the announcement was cancelled and redone a third time before I caught it and got the promotion.

they want me to e-mail or fax and want a cover sheet so I think they want it as (proper) as it can be for a final assembly inspector
