Update--OT---But a concern to many

Some time back, I posted that I was receiving several "tollfree" calls from two different numbers.
I went to the do not call web site and filed a complaint. This was done about three week ago and the calls stopped the next day. None since.

Is pretty easy to follow and register your phone numbers. Doesn"t stop all, but cuts a big bunch. I don"t have caller ID, so it is a little hard to register a complaint, unless caller comes right out and identifies themselves. I have two callers that just don"t quit. One is for reduced interest on my credit cards, and asks me to touch a key, which auto dials a "counsellor." Other one is about my auto warranty. Both of these are automated calls, and you can"t even scream at them.

I meant to ask you the other day on that "radio" post. Can you get the Sheridan station that far north in the county? WDLP 93.7 FM I think is where it's at on the dial. Some guy with a huge old record collection down on Amsden road broadcasting out of his garage off his truck battery or something.

I usually just leave the phone off the hook when these things call me. It ties up their line for a while, and they"re paying, so figure I"m at least costing them some extra pennies for calling. I did press "1" and talk to one of the folks regarding the "your vehicle is out of warranty, renew now" call that I got last week. Once they understood that my newest vehicle is a 1992 Buick, they were not very interested in offering me an extended warranty. I told "em if that was the case, why did they call me in the first place? Never did get a good answer, and I"m pretty sure they took my number off their list.....

I got one of those warranty calls. They said press 2 to speak to someone so I did. Gal wants to know what my vehicle was. I told her my 1925 Fordson tractor and she hung up. Didn't even say thank you lol.

Donno a thing about it... What I really enjoyed was that oldies station out of Greenville/Grandrapids. Used it in the driver ed car at a low volume level, when appropriate. Was something I could tolerate, and so could the kids. Lots of the kids allowed as how their parents listened to it at home! Is that SHERIDAN station a legal station, or just some guy playing with a low power home transmitter?

It's legal. He sells a few commercials locally. Has a mobile unit that shows up at events. Bumper stickers and all that. All oldies, just mixed stuff from different eras. Pretty sure its 93.7. It's been around for 4-5 years now.

Maybe it's 92.7 or 93.1,but it's somewhere right in there. A low power station. They call themselves WDLP-LP. I assume the LP means low power.

I think they do. They advertise in the Daily News now and then. They broadcast just off M57 on Amsden road.

Phishing for credit card numbers and other info. Didn"t want to give extended warrantee on 1969 Kaiser DJ5. didn't want to give a billing address or office address to be checked- credit card or checking account for electronic funds transfer only. Same people seem to be trying to sell me life and health insurance- web address only. Local insurance salesmen have fixed address offices and references on file with state for the insurance company they represent- but admit the cancer history makes me a bad risk and say goodbye. RN
