any of you that have posted a tractor for sale have any scam artists work you ??? i had one that i played with, he used the old ," i'll send you twice the money " and you send cash to my shipper,...did get the check and it really looks official, can see why some are taken...now have a second one working me,...see if i get check from him....

The only adds I have ever posted are "wanted" adds and I always have nice folks from Miami or New York City with realy bad English email me saying the have just what I "wish to purchase". They will ship right away as soon as I send them my full name, adress, and Credit card number. If you ask them for a pic or anything they never reply.

Lots of folks looking for a quick buck and on the net there ain't much of a chance of get'n in trouble.

I have a ad for a dirt bike on Craigs list and the 6 responces I got were scam.

I had a good one 3 years ago. They sent two money orders for $2,500.00 each. They looked as real as can be and the scenario was the same as what you explained with your incident. I was to take out my portion which was $500 then send the rest back to them via western union. Well I suspected a scam from the start. I had them send payment to my place of employment. Then the checks came in a brown envelope the color of a brown grocery bag with not return address. Well I cashed the checks and sat on them like they weren't in my bank account. All this time (7 days) the scammers kept emailling me threatening to take me to court, etc. Well on the 8th day I told my banker what was going on and I was told they would check into the checks. The next day by 9:30am my banker called and told me not to do anything because the checks were fake. I never responded to any more emails from the scammers and they quit emailing also. A year later they tried it again and I told them in my first email; "You don't want to do business with me and I dont' want to do business with you".

I never heard any more since then. The post officer master and my banker told me I was one of the lucky ones because people fall for this type scam all the time.
The checks looked real but the heat sensitive dot that's supposed to change color with heat did not change colors.

For all of you who read this proceed with caution on any type of check!!

Every time I list something I get those. I finally sent one a name & address as follows---- Dr. Hugo P Hackenbush, Standish Sanitarium, Washington DC. He sent an e-mail thanking me & said I would receive a check in the mail. Never heard another word from him. Do you think he found out I was really a horse doctor?

This past summer, my wife quit teaching High School English on a full-time basis because she needed a second back surgery and knew that she couldn't make it through the year without a lengthy absence.

She posted a couple of ads offering tutoring for English in a couple of reputable home schooling web sites that serve this area. She received four or five responses almost immediately. They were all foreigners who needed EXACTLY what she was offering for their children's education.

Every one of them was going to send her advance money for her teaching and then they'd get together with her later to introduce their children.

In every case, she refused the advance money and offered to meet them at a place that would be convenient for them so that she could assess whether or not she thought that she could be of help to their children.

None ever responded to her offer.

There are crooks everywhere.

We sold some Husky puppies a few days ago, had many calls from deaf people with the help of a phone operater... all wanting to send a check for a over amount, you know the rest of the story. I just had to sell to someone that could hear them howl, and the cash was nice too!!!!!
