Here are some pictures of us corn picking in the fall of 08. A few degrees warmer in these pictures. 10 degrees here today closer to 70 in the pictures.

Are you grinding ear corn and putting it in the silo? What keeps it from spoiling? I used to grind ear corn early in the fall but had to feed it fast otherwise it would spoil before I got it fed up.Moisture content of the Kernals was always around 10-13% but the cob carried more moisture than that.
 
The ground corn will ferment, as does chopped corn or hay will when put in a silo at the proper moisture. Ground corn usually goes in about 30 to 35% moisture and is ground fine enough to keep out oxygen. Wayne
