OT / computer inkjet refill options

Just killin time here waiting on a call.

Anyway for about twenty years I been playing with computers and never having what could be called good luck when dealing with them.

I have numerous times tried to refill the black inkjets with spotty results...often spotty is what happens. It could be my imagination, but seems that every time I get a new printer it becomes harder to refill the inkjets.

I'm going with a hunch that the ink jet research department might be behind this.

Most folks don't know that when you buy a new printer, it is only half full of ink.

So does anyone make a printer in a above average price range that has a five gallon bucket filled with bulk (BLACK) ink on their desk? Probably could get by with a gallon jug if I had to. Just kiddin again, but It blisters my rear end giving $32.00 for a black inkjet.

Any thoughts or websites?

Thanks to all.

By the way, why would I contact a office supply, doctor, mechanic, theropist, attorney, or probation officer when I got this bunch?

Merry Christmas

SWMBO just got a Kodak printer for about $75.00. Refill cartridges for the old HP were going to cost of $50.00. Refills for Kodak are realy cheap and will print about 10 times as much. check it out.
looky here

I've been buying generic cartridges on-line for years; my printer (Epson) takes 6 different cartridges and they are replaced individually. The generic are never more than 1/3 and sometimes as little as 20% of the cost of name brand.......and work just as good.

Yeah, it get's harder to refill the ink for a reason. Selling ink cartridges is where the printer manufacturers make their money.

We have a somewhat newer HP network printer which is really nice, but it gives me sticker shock every time we need to buy new ink. There's no way to refill them on your own. We tried sending the empties in to places that do refilling, but every time we either get back broken ones (the jets and circuitry are build right into them) or they only last 1/4 as long as new ones do. Now we just reluctantly buy new ones from HP.

ive been refilling the black one for 3 years in my dell printer.drill tiny hole in top ,shoot 2 syringes of ink in it. put elec tape over hole.. ive never let it run out before i fill it.. the color ink one ran out and i never replaced it.lucas

Try Costco for your cartridges or refill kits. I have been using their refill kit for my HP 15, HP40, and HP45 cartridges for years. The empty is put inside a plastic jar with a screw on lid. The refill vessel containing the new ink is installed in the inside of the lid of the refill jar. As the lid on the jar is screwed on it forces the new ink into the cartridge through the printer jets. No muss no fuss and it works like it should for about $13 for three refills. They also have Dataproducts refill cartridges for less than having the old ones refilled. I just order them through the internet. Being Dutch I'm almost as cheap as a Polish person.

Is that one of the Tchtronics printers that Kodak got when they bought out the printer division? Does it use the wax "crayons". Techtronics used make a Phaser (faser?) line of printers that used wax instead of ink. You only had to buy the wax which was cheaper because there was no electronics involved. They never dried out and it used the wax to the last drop, so to speak.

A warning to some. Some of the inkjet printers have a chip in the cartridge that will irreversably disable the printer if refilled. I do not know which brands and models they are.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but I got fed up with ink printers a few years ago, and switched to laser. Bullet proof office laser printers are available very cheap used, and many haven't even printed one month's worth of their duty cycle. For example, I just bought a current model Lexmark $450 printer (1 1/2 years old) for $68 shipped to my door off Ebay. It has a 80,000 page per month duty cycle, and had a total print count when I got it of 5003 pages. Toner is over 1/2 full, and will print over 5000 more pages till it has to be replaced. Toner is cheap (again off Ebay) when the time comes. The only reason I replaced my old one is my new laptop didn't have a parallel port, and an adapter won't work. Color lasers are also available cheap, but I don't have a need for them, and toner costs more. I will never go back to ink.

Walgreen won't refill my Epson's. Seems like they would be easy, by their design. Got me scratching my head!

I second the idea of looking at laser printers, especially if all you need is black and white. The initial cost is a bit higher, but you get that back in toner vs ink.

Where I work there are 3 brand new HP 3600N printers sitting upstairs, less cartridges. The boss saves $100 buying a new printer over buying a new cartridge. He's tried refilling the cartridges but it didn't work. I think he gets about a year and a half out of the cartridges. It's just a big scam. Dave

If you cna get my with black and white, get an older laser, such as Hp 4M. Toner cartridges can be bought for around $15 or 40 off Ebay, and last for several thousand pages.

As to bulk tanks, there are a couple companies that used to make feeder systems for some of the Epson printers. Thye used a tube system to connect to bulk bottles.
