I am looking at a Kubota B1700 in good condition with a 42" bushog mower. Can a tractor this small do a good job of mowing?

Can and probably will cut good. Is it a B1700 or a B7100? I have heard of the latter, I would assume its a little less than 20 HP, older machine. I have a grey market Kubota about 22 HP, pulls a 4' bush hog, will cut off 2" saplings, no problems. Welcome to the site.

The B1700 is a 17 Gross HP tractor.
Probably about 12-13 PTO hp.

A landpride 42" rotary cutter is listed 15-50 HP.

It would work if you weren't cutting dense tall stuff and were maintaining a field only. Very Bottom of the Heap for hp listings.
landpride RCR15

It is a B1700 and is 17 HP. It is a 42" mower. Most of the field is open but there are some rough dense spots. If it will handle a 1" sapling, it should do the job ok.
