Amateur mechanic here,my 200 won't start...it turns readily.I have gas running out of the bottom of the carb when I take the bolt out(sometimes without taking it off)But it doesn't even try to fire...It usually starts pretty easy.
I ran it 3 weeks ago,it went fine..
We've had quite a bit of rain,I try to keep it covered...
Can anyone help me with the steps to basic troubeshooting...It would be very appreciated,as I am at a loss of what to do.Pull a plug and check for spark?
As usuall thankyou in advance for any help,I have gotten a lot out of this forum

Pull the center wire from the distributor cap and check for fire. If you have fire you may have a wet distributor cap. If no fire, you need to checxk the points under the cap. there also may be a dust cap under the distributor cap which you will have to remove to see the points and the condenser. You need to make sure there's not any moisture inside the distributor or mag. Check the point gap. It's .020" on a distributor and .013" on a mag. Rub the points with some 320 wet or dry until shiny. If they're pitted replace them. With a distributor and with the points open check for battery voltage on both terminals on the coil. You need the ignition switch on too. If there's no voltage you need to check the switch for voltage. If there's voltage at the switch your wire from the switch to the coil may be broken or not making good contact. You can run a separate wire from your battery to the coil and see if will start. Hal

This is the sequence I usually check things in.

1. Check for Spark at the plugs

2. If good spark make sure there's gas in the tank and it's turned on.

3. If all checks good pull the plugs and see if they are wet or dry. If wet I usually try to dry them with torch then sand blast them to clen them up. Then spray them with air or WD-40 and redry them.

4. Give it a pull start if it still won't fire.

If you use any kind of sand paper on the points you will have to close them with a clean piece of note book paper between them and pull the paper out slowly to clean the points. Do this at least 3 times. You will see the dirt you remove. If you don't clean them the points may short out or fail prematurely.

These are just the basics I have mentioned. One may have to look deeper into it if needed with some knowledgeable background.

Thanks everyone for the helpful answers.
I really appreciate them...
One more question, what is an IT Manual and where do I get it?
thankyou
