Got our Christmas tree today

Mountain behind us is solid ice and snow - pretty hard to walk up or down. Little 5 year-old kid's been bugging his mom to get a tree. Then, mom bugged me. So,I stuck tire-chains on our little Isuzu diesel PUP and drove up into our woods. Little truck is amazing - and with chains on all four - will go just about anywhere (until the frame bottoms out).

Now we've got a happy little kid (and dog) - and they both love riding in the back of that truck. 24 degrees F today and didn't seem to bother the kid at all. If child-welfare saw us they'd stick me in jail for child abuse.

Ya know? Gettin' the tree as a family thing? I like that. That's a good thing. Beats the heck out of gettin' one of them mail order blowup trees. I did the blowup tree thing once, filled it with helium so the dogs wouldn't knock it over, but it kept going up to the ceiling until the fan popped it...and then it became a family thing, cause they all kept calling me a moron and stuff. You did much much better for your family, and I bet they won't be calling you names and stuff. Grin.

I used a MF 180 with a fork-lift and a pallet on the 3pt to get our tree this year. Was almost dark, no pictures. Plowing thru as much as 2feet of snow, was afraid I might not make it back up the big hill. As cold as it was, was scared diesel would jell too!

Looks like you made your little boy very happy. Thanks for the pictures - and I wish you and your family a merry Christmas.

Takes me back, about 50 years. We always went out on foot, Dad carried the tree back to the house. 'Course, being here in the banana belt, it was hardly ever in snow. I remember Dad being pretty patient with the 3 of us kids, having to keep going back and forth between several possibilities (spread over about 50 acres), to be sure and get the "right" one.
