Can"t shift 4wd options, "Service 4wd" lite is on. None of the lites behind buttons light. Seems stick in 4wd, binds on short turns. In the past, shutting down ignition, shifting to N, etc and I could get it to shift in or out, when it got contankerous. None of these actions work this time. No blown fuses that I can see on fuse panel under hood. What now?

With any luck it is the pushbutton panel. Had one go bad on our 2000 burb. The good news would be that it is the cheapest thing that goes wrong. Bad is the shift motor, I hear it is a pain and spendy to fix

Definitely get the codes read, but keep in mind not all scanners will read ATC(transfer case) codes.

Encoder(shift)motors on the t-case have been a problem on the GM's.Replaced a fair amount of them.

Had that happen to my wife's 02 Trailblazer-none of the lights on the 4WD switch light up. Found a service bulletin from GM. On mine, you find the ETC fuse, remove it for 30 seconds, and it will reset and work again. I have had to do this several times, and it has worked every time-Knock on wood! By the way, mine is stuck in 2WD when this happens. Greg

this is why i like the old ones, they have a stick on the floor and locking hubs on the front wheels, any trouble is easily fixed

I'm with ericlb. This is one of the reasons I bought my dodge Ram 2500 in '04. Still could get a stick for both trans and transfercase. Ford and Chevy were all automatic.
