12 volt battery

If i want to put a 12 volt battery in a positive ground 6 volt tractor how do I hook it up, just to crank it now, no charging, I will add alternator Later? Thanks Amo

Starter dont care but your alt will be neg ground. You didnt say what kind of tractor and are you sure you need 12v.

some way you had your 6v but what about your points and coil you will have to change coil to 12v and put a resistor in for the points

AS long as the charging system does not work it does not matter how its hooked up. No matter which way you hook it it the start will spin the same way

May as well hook it up as a neg ground now as that is what your alt will be. Should put a 12 volt coil on now and hook it up so negative goes to the points. Not sure if the condencer will matter but for a few bucks change it.
