Mail thieves- again!

Last week I found a pile of mail in my drive way. Turned it in to the post office.
This morning, I saw mail scattered along the road for one half mile. Lightening Bug said someone had stuffed what looked like a cheese cake in her mail box.
Called the post office and told them about it.

If it was your mail, IMMEDIATELY freeze your credit. Thats one of the quickest ways identity thieves steal your identity and go get credit cards in your name, run them up and you get the bill, and then have to deal with clearing your name. You can do it online. Go to Experian, Trans Union and Equifax on line. With your credit "Frozen", you will get either a letter in the mail, or a phone call checking to see if you are actually applying for credit. At minimum the thief gets denied on the spot. Best case is the cops grab him and you don't have to deal with collection agencies that won't accept even a police report of identity theft. Trust me, I know. It took a lawyer and court action to prove I wasn't responsible for a couple credit cards and a doctor bill.

When ever you get a bill of charges from ANY Credit Card Company -- and You didn't charge or make the billing, you can Challenge any charge made and Not Responsible for the amount due that was done by some one else .....

your just pushing the panic button to cancel any credit card -- but it is a good idea to keep them in the news loop and take their advise on matters

Pay ALL your bills by computer and get no paper bills...they have a harder time stealing what they can't see ...and it'll save you money too! Charles

Been doing it for 15 years no problem...no lost mail and no more money for checks postage stamps envelopes ect..most of the world does it this way that's why the post office keeps raising the price of stamps...they're loosing more money every year and don't know why! Charles

There is a huge difference between "canceling" a credit card and "freezing" your credit. When you freeze your credit, it makes it impossible for someone to fill out a credit application with your info and get it approved. ALL credit card companies pull a credit report when they decide weather or not to issue credit cards. When they pull your credit report and it is frozen, they will contact you to see if you actually did apply for any form of credit. If you reply no, the application is denied. It's been a while, but it used to be many dept stores like Sears, Penny's etc would ask you at the checkout if you would like to fill out a credit card app and charge your purchase and offer a free gift for doing so. It only took like 10 minutes to get an approval or denial.
Freezing your credit has nothing to do with any current credit cards you may already have, it just stops someone from getting new credit cards in your name.
Consumer advocate Clark Howard has a web site that can walk you through freezing your credit.
