Another question on the MF 35, where does the tach cable attach. This tractor has a tach but no cable. I am thinking it connected to the generator but has been converted to an alternator and had the cable removed. Would that be correct?

If its a Continental engine you got it. The tach ran of a gear box on the back of the generator. Those with Perkings the tach runs off the back of the cam shaft.

I have seen electronic tachs with a speed range much lower than the typical 10,000 RPM that would work decently. Electric hour meters that run off 12 volts work fine for keeping track of operating time.

In case you can"t fix that one I put an electronic one from J.C. Whitney on mine several years ago. It fit the hole perfectly. Range is 0 to 4000. I"m well pleased with it. TDF
