looking at a jd 40 combine for sale what is it worth? what should i look for wear/tear? thanks farmerjohn

I sold a round back this past summer. I think I got $200 or 250. Just tap on all the sheet metal underneath the full length of it to make sure it isn't rusted out. Same thing inside the grain tank.

How about the motor, how wide ,high, is the machine?

Oh wait a minute,that was a 42 pull type that I sold. I sold a 40 self propelled probably 9-10 years ago for $500. That was a round back too. Just had the 9 foot grain head. Motor on that one was a valve in head 4 cylinder,same engine as a 1010 tractor. I couldn't tell you what the height was on it. It cleared my 12 foot high door on the tool shed with plenty of room to spare. I let the manual go with it,so I can't check.

auction, Mississippi River Vally, 10 miles North
of Interstate 90.
