ford 1710 Offset

There was a feller from Georgetown, Ohio that recently had one for sale on eBay. I don"t think it sold because the owner thinks it is gold plated. I"d like to own myself....any of the last diesel powered offsets should be a decent machine. My choice would be the Yanmar built Deere 900HC. I had a Yanmar made JD 1050 and it was a very good machine and it seemed to run on fumes.

Yes, the guy in georgetown actually has/had two 1710 offsets, one was a low clearance and the other was a high clearance... but neither were 1988s, one was an 85' and the other was an 86'. I actually have 3 ford 1710 offsets now.... they're excellent tractors!

would you expound upon the differences in the model years? I think the 12 speed tranny in the 1710 impresses me most. when I go to bull dog gear.....I want it to really crawl.....I haven't seen any of them that are slow enough for me!

There is no way this side of hell I am going to pay a King's ransom in order to own one. I suppose I'll keep raising vegetables with my old Super A and tell myself how much better than a hoe it is...hehe!

there were slight variations between years that this tractor was made; one insignificant change was changing the 3pt lever and mid mount lever. The 85' and 86' used two different looking levers. The 87' and 88' used the same style lever. Again, that's a very insignificant change. The 85' and 86' also had a different hydraulic cylinder than the one used on the 87' and 88'. I know what you mean about not wanting to pay what the guy in georgetown is asking for his 1710s. These tractors do hold their value though.... I have 3 and I paid $14,000 for one of them, it is virtually new though... it's only got 490 hours on it and it's strictly for collecting. There's alot of farmall A's out there, my great uncle had an A and a cub so i'm a little familiar with those... to me the 1710 is the best offset tractor made, I love the power steering and diesel engines. I've posted one of mine in the classified section before... cheaper than the guy in georgetown but im not gonna give it away either. Only reason i posted it for sale is to free up barn space... great tractor... if you're interested i'll email you info/photos [email protected]
