Treating with antibiodics

After reading the below with everyone having the flu this month makes me ask this question.

Is there any one else out there that is allergic to the antibiodics called Rocephin & Leviquin?
Rocephin drops my blood pressure and then I pass out only 20 minutes after taking it.

Leviquinn it took 8 days for me to start having small welts on the bottom of my feet and legs. Then I felt it in my throat.

They tell me it's the Sulpha in these medicines that cause it. Both of these antibiodice cover a very large family of antibiodics.

The hospital put me on benedryl works good but be careful it's addictive.

Just wandering if any one else has had these reactions. They're not fun. The drug to counter act these make you shake and shiver like getting out of a cold lake. I now carry an epic pen with me wherever I go. Had it now for 6 years. Have to get a new one every 6-12 months.

Don't drive or run that tractor with Benadryl. You can have accident or fall asleep. When I take it, its like being a zombie. People talk to you, and you don't even feel like answering. Don't like to complain, but have problems with 90% of drugs and medications, some vitamins. Get a couple of drug books like worst pills, best pills, and natural remedies and educate yourself. Dr. used to say okay your allergic to penicillin, so we will give you keflex. I would say Doc, these drugs are almost twins when it comes to allergies. I would take shot and swell up get hives, trouble breathing, you name it. What do I do? Pray a lot. Jesus is the great physician. I only take drugs in desperation. Last year I had flu for month or so, no MD would give me the right stuff, found a vet that fixed me up. Flu gone no reactions. It must be a curse. Terramycin works for me. Most MD's want to give you new drugs, so you can be guinea pig. Or expensive, very expensi ve drugs. Am 65 and long as the Lord is willing, no regular maintenance medicine. Amish have some good ideas.

Hmmm,

1918 flu epidemic. There were very few drugs to be had. The people all prayed to Jesus, and they still died like flies. Were they being punished for their sins? Or was it because they were Catholics and not good Lutherans?

The answer is simply that; modern drugs had not been developed at that time. Yes, I believe in God and His son Jesus....so don't flip off the deep end and call me an atheist. God gave us brains and expects us to use them. Many good brains have worked to develop drugs for numerous afflictions and diseases. Some of these drugs/chemical compounds are wonderful, many are not. That is no reason to act as if they are all just different forms of strychnine!

I think I'll take my chances as an 'English' and let the Amish lifestyle pass me by. I enjoy electricity in my home, owning and using vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, air conditioning, deodorant, women who douche (think about that...gag!), using toilet paper and not relying on horse liniment and pine tar to cure everything from cancer to hang nails.

That brings up a good point. Mother nature, god,or whoever, whatever had this all figured out. People have been around for thousands of years and got along ok. Just like the animals only the strong will survive.

Look at what keeps going on in Africa. People keep trying to "help" by feeding them and sending medicines to them and all they do is have more and more babies to keep magnifing the problem. Same thing here too. You keep prolonging the sickly and then they can pass these bad sickly genes along to their kids who get sicker earlier.

I know this will set alot of people off , but just stop and think of the big picture.

John,

I have had more than 23 years of experience with heavy duty antibiotics, including Rocephin. This is an Intervenous Antibiotic and can have very serious side effects including death. But it is one of the few Ab that can penetrate the blood brain barrier and overcome an infection of the brain and spinal cord. But there is another effect that you may not know about....the Jerrosh Herxheimer reaction. (I don't know if I remembered the "J" word correctly). When this Ab (and some others) actually do their work, they are killing off extremely bad bacteria (plus good ones too). The extremely bad stuff is incredibly toxic to the human system and may be the cause of the alergic reaction. I have been through this many times. It usually sets up a cycle somewhere between 5 to 10 days for each successive Herx, but they usually last in high intensity for about 2 days, and then ease up, each following Herx is less intense. When you are not Herxing anymore, you have killed off the major population of bad bacteria. I went through a 10 day period of Rocephin I.V., it was not long enough to do the job completely, the following year had a 5 week run of IV Ab therapy, and it was not long enough, and have had oral Ab's on/off since, but the initial run of 10 days left a tougher bunch of bacteria as the parents of successive generations, and I am probably uncurable. But the oral Ab's help me to stay in remission, and I can continue my life albeit not the full life I had before me prior to the infection. But there are a lot of people with some form of disability still on the "green side" of the grass, and I am just one of them.

As a reply to all those who think their fundamental Christianity protects them, enjoy your dream. I get so tired of the judgemental people who think I should die because that would be the result without current medical treatment. I worked my full career, paying my taxes, paying my full share of Social Security, and paying my full family plan medical insurance, and raising my 5 children in a Christian environment. So who made the Borrelia Burgdorferi bacteria, and who caused that deer tick to embed in my belly button while working in a hay field during first cutting of 1985? My tick borne disease is Lyme Disease, and it has dramatically changed my life. For you "non medicine" people, just look back at history and see the average human lifespan was between 25 and 40, depending on what period of history you want to look at. Most of you are already older than that, so you are on the lucky side, but without meds as needed in some future time, you are getting close to the end (statistically). Make your own decision for your life, but do not make any decision/judgement about when I should be "finished". I am just very tired of being judged by the "I'm a better Christian than you are" group. For the majority of you, I apologize for this rant.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Benedryl a medication for depression? Benadryl is for hay fever and bee stings. Neither have anything to do with antibiotics.

Benadril is an anti-inflammatory, thus it is used for stopping the inflamation caused by allergic reactions, and bee sting toxin is one of those things which can cause allergic reactions....big time. As with many meds, it may have some other beneficial effects.
