head gasket leaking

Hey folks,
A couple of months ago, I replaced the HG on my tractor. The gasket was shot, but no external leaks. I've noticed now that it is leaking oil in two places, runs fine though.Think there is a fix other than replacing the gasket again?

Thanks, Dave

If you have a 9N, 2N, or 8N, there is NO oil in the head area, so there can be no "oil leak" there.

Sounds like you make have a slight leakage of combustion products that is oozing past the gasket an tricking you into thinking it's oil.

Re-torque the head.

SORRY, I thought we were on the "N" Board!

HOWEVER, the advice is the same. Re-torque the heaIf it is an OHV engine, reset the valves, as well.

If they are on a flat place, I would use a straight single sided razor blade, clean the exterior of the leak with Brake clean or Equal deposit free solvent. Position and tap the blade into the interface between the gasket and the iron. Break off, or dremel grind the portion sticking out. Thus you are shimming the gasket thicker. Then use the dremmel Hand grinder, and groove out that area about a millimeter deep (gasket and blade only). Put a touch of urethane based glue on the groove. let harden then trim with a razor blade. Good luck. Jim
