Any of you folks know of the best deal one can acquire on a '09 Impala LS --- lots of talk about "supplier priciing" rebates and special discounts as of late and am ready to deal but as with everyone I want the best deal I can get --- somewheres, somehow, etc. ????

thanks folks for any coments.

For a company only weeks away from bankrupcy their "red tag" sales sure aren't much off list.

I'd of thought if they cleared them out for manufacturing costs they would be farther ahead ?

It's funny that you mention the "tag" thing. A few weeks ago I was looking for a new truck. Went to all 5 mans. Both GM's had tags "no haggle" pricing, the price on the tag was what you paid. And as you stated "not much off MSRP". Went to Ford, liked this 1 f-150 they had, went back 2 days later and the price on the tag had went UP $1500.00. Salesman said Ford had pulled one of it's rebates and that is why the price went up... I left cause he wouldn't meet me half-way of the $1500.00. Ended up buying a Tundra... $7500.00 off MSRP.

bought a new 08 gmc 3 months ago got good deal almost 2/3 of list now looks like I should have waited

Best thing that could have happened to you. I have a 2006 Tundra work truck, V8, A/T, 175k on it. Not one problem. Changed the spark plugs at 120k as per book. Old spark plugs looked like new. Regular gas, 20 mpg. I'm happy!

The best(or worse for some) may be yet to come, the lot at Oshawa assembly is full of 09 Impalas and dosen't seem to be shrinking and they just layed off 700 workers.

I remember seeing new Impalas for $20,000, list is about $23k. I know that the new Malibus are $19,900. The Impala is a bigger car then the Malibu.

local dealer say's MSRP is at $ 24,540, minus $4,750 for supplier pricing and $750 from dealer discount... equals $19,040 plus tax and DMV/Title.

Seems as though I'm getting the rough end of the stick -- ? don't know how I can convince a dealer otherwise-- they all seem so arrogant when it comes to fairdealing ????

The CARMAX deal I cited won't help you much because they don't have a site near you. The only reason I quoted it was to get an idea of what those cars CAN be sold for. Actually, you're a little more than a thousand or so from the Carmax deal so maybe you can haggle, make an offer, whatever.

Every 5000 miles as per book. Easy because, on the Tundra, there is a "maint req" light that comes on every 5000 miles provided you reset it each oil change. Seven zerks in the drive train as well vs 8 on the Tacoma.

Just offer 5000 under whatever is on the sticker. Do you honestly think for one second they are going to give you employee pricing, or whatever. You are going to pay more for that car than they bought it for. If they want to sell one, for their kickbacks and what not, theyll sell it! I paid 41000 for a truck that had a 53000 sticker, and got supplier discount off of the 41000. Dont talk trade or down payment or anything else until you have settled on a price FIRST, even offer cash as payment method. It helps.

You get a GM employee to use his number to get a deal if they are that popular. Otherwise make your best offer in writing and have it notarized and wait for them to come around.
