Bill,

Haven't seen any pictures lately. I'm in Cedar Rapids at the moment and there's not much to see except snow.

What's going on in your part of the world?

Stan

Snow, Cold, Wind. Things have slowed down to a crawl for everybody here. We have a layer of snow on the ground, maybe 4 or 5 inches, but it isnt frozen under it, yet, so we have mud covered by snow right now. It is 20 and windy currently with a low expected about 12 by morning.
There are fields of corn to harvest yet, probably the most corn I have ever seen snowed on in my lifetime. Field work is about done for. I did see a neighbor putting on NH3 in the snow yesterday, I was suprised, and sorry I didnt have my camera.
Right now I'm just taking care of the animals and trying to keep warm and dry as much as possible. Weaned the calves this morning and ground a load of feed for the cows before the snow started today. Might slip over to the sale barn tomorrow and see how things are going. Tomorrow is also the last day of the Peoria farm show.
How long till spring?

Bit cool here in MO. where I am at. Cold front drop down from up north this day. Brought some cold here and windy conditions around 3 pm.
Talk of snow but did not happen and the ground here is snowless and a bit dry.
Cleaned out my wood furnace yesterday again. So it is fired up tonight. Hope to save on electric bill here some. But every so often today. I have notice a light goes dim and bright. Had scanner on and no reports of accidents around. So not for sure what is going on.
Did run my chickens in earlier. The wind was cold coming out of the north and that blows right inside the door opening for them. Don't have a lot of them but they are given me 8 to 9 fresh xlarge brown eggs each day in this cold. :)
Worried some that I may not have cut enough wood for my outside furnace. Did not expect to be using it so soon. Have a good holiday coming. :)

Bill,

"How long till spring"? I'll let you know tomorrow or the next day when I get back to Florida.

Saw lots of corn not yet harvested coming down from Cedar Rapids to St. Louis and across from there to I-57 and also down through western Kentucky.

Reminds me of the years when we didn't get all the corn picked until April or May.

Although I love Iowa and CR, it was not my choice to be there. 4 degrees this morning when we left, and only about 30 here in Clarksville,
TN tonight.

Stan

Yep...we had a family situation that had to be attended to. Headed home now, currently in Clarksville, TN

How's the 1010 working? Did I get that model right?

Stan

yep it is a 1010 but it was put on the back burner I lost my job in these slow times and it began to aggravate me with the way it would act nothing I did made it better. Uncle brought a MF 231 and it does the work for now

Roy,

Sorry to hear about your job situation, for sure! My son (44) has been out of work for most of the past year.

Sitting here in Valdosta at the Best Western on our way home to Florida.

Keep your chin up, bud,

Stan
