john deer drill question

I bought a John Deere grain drill and would like any tips on moving this planter. I would like to pull it home behind my truck. I think it is a 10' - 13 hole drill. It has a fertilizer bin, seeder, and planter bins. It does not have a cylinder to lift(It was not originally equiped with one). There are two hand cranks on the front, do these lift the double disk openers? I need to raise everything so that I can pull it home. I don't see any trip levers or any way to raise other than maybe these hand cranks. Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Every one I bought I pulled home behind a truck. You just have to go slow. It will bounce too much over bumps in the road.
I'm a little confused about it not having a trip lever or a hydraulic cylinder hook up. Check again, the disks have to be up for transport. I gather from your posts the disks are down. The hand wheels as I recall are to adjust down pressure, but I may be wrong. Turn the wheels and see what happens.

Does yours look like this one? Not a very good picture, but you can see the ropes running from tractor to trip levers and chains that drive them.Drill has to be moving forward and then trip the levers in order to raise and lower. If you want a better picture, e-mail me and I'll send you one. Chris

It has to have eather place for hyd. cylinder or cluthes for ropes. My guess is it is rope lift with the ropes missing. Are you sure it is not in the up position with wheels sunk in the dirt apearing as tho it is down? Even in raised position the disks are only about 2 inches off ground. If it is in down position you will have to jack end wheel up, trip the clutch and turn the wheel by hand to raise the disks. Then do the same on the other end.

Nice drill. Your"s maybe an FB model with the galvanized boxes. One year older than my green FB serial number 316.
Grain box isn"t large but the drill works well.
Might have planted a 1/2 width a time or two when not getting the trip ropes pulled enough or too much.........................
I don"t use the fertilizer bin as the spouts were rusted out and were removed. Fertilizer is cheaper spread on bulk instead of in bags anyways.
If a down spout plugs it will now spread seed on the surface instead of completely missing a row.
Mother Deere seems to still stock most parts too.
Towed mine home behind the truck after oiling the chains and greasing the shafts. The hitch was sloppy loose until it was changed in height.
