3 point problem JD2950

All of a sudden the 3point arms will not go down as they should. They will fall after about a half an hour, tractor on or off. All other hydraulic functions are working fine, including the up on the 3-point.

I have also noticed that you can manually lift the arms with no resistance at all, except their weight, so there seems to be no down pressure at all.

Anything direction on the problem is greatly appreciated!

I a similar problem with my 2950 due to the internal linkage wearing out and coming apart. Try adjusting the Rockshaft Selector Lever (the thing with MIN MAX and about 5 different settings). Do this while trying to put the 3pt up and down. This selector is hooked up to the same linkage. Also, if it's an open station tractor like mine, I think it's possible to inspect this linkage through hole in the rear that you pour trans-hydraulic fluid into, but you may need a dental mirror.

In my case, I was able to use it for about a year by tinkering with the controls and swearing a lot, but I eventually had to have a new linkage installed when it came apart completely.

three point will normally have no resistance to manually raising the arms because the "connecting rod" on the rockshaft is not connected to the piston. Check and make sure the rate of drop screw has not been turned to "slow"(clockwise)it is located between your heels when sitting on the seat. Bob
