Just thought I would post what was in the Lima, Oh. paper on sat. Haven't delt with them but this is where the small scrap dealers take their stuf to. They have yards in different states.

I have no idea what the different grades are but will give you and idea of what they are advertising for.

Scrap prices, during the summer, were very good here near Pittsburgh, Pa., and with the price of gasoline being so high, taking in a load of scrap iron brought $12 to $20 for a short pickup load. Then, after the bottom fell out, i took in much of the same stuff, and got $6 for it. Hardly worth the effort. So now, it'll be held back to watch the prices.
Alum. is way down, too. Copper-not bad yet, but get better price for clean stuff.

#2 copper: $1.10 lb.
Non-magnetic stainless: $.20/lb.
Another ad:

#2 copper: $1.15 lb.
Yellow brass: .50/lb.
Red Brass: $.65/lb.

One place is paying $140 per ton, for brake rotors! And, $2.00 for car batteries.
I don't see prices going up any time soon. Of course, the high prices were because of China getting ready for the Olympics, so i was told.
So, start a war, and we'll be sittin' in high clover again!

Last summer, my boss had the brilliant idea to bring all the metal stud--20 to 16 gauge-- scrap from construction back to office. He figured he'd make a killing. He grabbed all the short pieces--four foot or less--and then had to buy more studs to get material for bracing, above door headers, etc. He had two guys loading the scrap the day he took it to the salvage yard. He got $112.00 for 2200 pounds. He paid the guys $20 an hour and it took them all morning. We're throwing scrap away now.

Hauled a load of cattle for a guy this morning. Said he took a load of scrap because he was tired of walking around it. Said he got $25 a ton.
