I am planning on painting our









I am planning on painting our Farmall
C with Valspar IH red, can I use some synthetic hardener wit it? When I painted our JD M a few years ago it was recommended to use it with JD green. Thanks in advance, Russ
 
Valspar sells the tractor and implement enamel and the restoration enamel. Restoration enamel costs more but you can buy the hardner to go with it.
 
Most people say put twice the recommended hardener in the paint. But I was at a paint seminar 11 years ago and professional painters who paint tractors said they only use half the recommended hardener and it works very well. I have been doing it since then and my paint holds up well. Most people have the wrong assumption of what hardener actually does to the paint.
 
I'm pretty sure Valspar sells the hardener right next to their paint. Ask somebody at the store who looks like they know what they're doing.
