If I read this correctly it seems like our country is trying to screw the farmers; I bet this will effect the trucking industry to not just the farmers. It is the cars that make the pollution not the farms. Here is the link, you might have to cut and past the link

I forgot; it is starting to seem like out country is wanting more ag products to come from China then here and it is getting harder for the average person to start even a small farming operation.

Yep its called free trade. We buy the products made overseas from the scrap we send them. The meat and produce we buy from them or else they won't deal with us on other items, like buying our banks when they need a financial boost. One thing i have noticed though is that small farms can make it pretty good if they can find a niche market to get into.

When was it ever easy to get started in farming. Unless you were handed the keys like every one I know that is farming today. Who could start out without a fist full of money, or an uncle who owned the bank?? No One

Yep, Free Trade, That's what George W wants and is promoting it to the very last day of his term. Free Trade, so we can all live like they do in the banana republics. Every one gets a little tin shed to live in. I will not buy anything that is not made in the USA unless there is no alternative.

It can be done. I only know of one person who has started from pure scrach and done realy well. When he was about 20 years old he was working at the local co-op and there was alot of down time in the fall so he bought a combine and started doing custom work for some older farmers round here. A few years latter he cash rented a few acres with a big tobacco barn on it. Now he is one of the top 10 largest farmers in the county.

There are several folks around here who got in on the easy financing when Hudson moved in and put up 4 to 8 broiler houses and got started that way.

It takes alot more managment but it can be done.

Since starting the "free trade" programs our country's lost over 3 million manufacturing jobs. But the politicans can't detemine what may be the cause of our economic downturn. I heard Pres. Bush comment on the economy, then he hop on the huge Air Force One (not even a corporate jet will do) to head south and see what else we can give away.

Our economy is now consumption driven. Works well as long as we are borrowing money and spending it on junk, homes, cars ect.

When times are unsure, people like me. tend to not buy stuff.
Auto industry is a great example. Cars are better made so no real reason to buy a new one.
We just paid off our mini van. 1st time in 20 years we have not had a car payment for the wifes car.
Not going to buy another for atleast 3 years. Dont care what rates they give. Dont care what fuel economy it gets.

What did you do with that Tax rebate check Bush sent out? Spend it on consumption? we paid off a credit card.

Not going to buy anything we dont need until we own our time. Instead of a mortgage company or a bank.
Well I did buy that 966 :)

Hey there;
Ross Perot tried to warn us, he said
"You'll hear a great sucking sound as
all the jobs go south"!!! I guess we
were WARNED about NAFTA.

God Bless
