My tractor motor went wide open

I was doing a discing job today, with my A/C Model M, and all of a sudden the motor goes wide open with no throttle control. I shut it down right away. Now where do I start. I pulled the carb everything looked ok. I thought the governor went bad. I took the governor off it looked ok, but I changed it anyway since I had another one. after a lot of wasted time I finally found the problem. There is a screw in bushing that the linkage goes through under the motor side cover. The bushing had unscrewded disconnecting the carb linkage. It was a simple repair, Why do we always go the the worst and hardest thing first. Seams that is how I work. Stan

check the governer linkage from the hand throttle, to the governer, to the carburator, if that is ok, you may have to dig deeper.

I had a go gart for my kids when they were younger and my daughter was screaming after I had helped her get it started then I went in the house, I suspected the worse and thought her hair got stuck in the chain, then I looked out of the window in soon enough to see her having trouble getting off the go cart and when she did get off the go gart took off by itself. It drove wide open and would spin out every 30 feet or so but you didn't know where it would head to next. I told the kids to get up in the jungle gym as I tried to chase it down. Well it went thru the garden and hay field a couple of times until it ran head on in to the snow blade. Well what had happened the butterfly came off the shaft in the carb. Looking back it was funny but not while it was happening, someone could of really gotten hurt if it had run into them. We could of won $10,000.00 on America's Funniest Video maybe.
