I am looking at a hustler 295 tractor to use as a snow thrower and mower,it has 880hrs on a 2cycl,25hp, continental gas engine.I can"t seem to find any info on the unit if anyone has any info or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

i have 2 of em. 2 clyinder teledyne continental motors. good units. be careful with the tail wheel, you can snap them off. i have owners manuals and parts manuals. one of mine has a cab with heat, snow blower and blade, the other, 72 inch mower. them rascals can cut some grass!!! heres some pics.

They were a top of the line commercial mower when they were new. They have a dual path hydrostatic transmission like a skid steer(seperate pump and motor for each side) which will give true 2 wheel drive and the ability to have one wheel go forward and one go reverse. I think they'd work good with for snow. The earlier Hustlers were the first true zero turn mowers. I'd guess the one you're looking at has more than 880 hrs. but the Continental is a good heavy duty, long life engine. They use an electric clutch for the PTO engagement that sometimes goes bad and cost's several hundred dollars to replace but all in all a very good machine. The steering takes getting used to but the best way to drive them is to use only one hand to control both levers. Hustler made/makes 4 and 6 wheel drive hillside units as well where the cab tilts to keep the operator level on the sides of ditches and slopes. Excel used to, and maybe still does, make roll bars for JD heavy equipment.

Thanks for the info.I'M going to look around for option's.They want 3800.00 for this unit,it comes with a 60"blower and a 72"mower deck it looks to be in good shape i'm going to look at it tommoro is there anything specific i should be looking at?Thank's for you're help!
