Tractors in Missouri

I have read several posts from Missouri residents. I was talking to dad who lives in Illinois about tractor collecting. The wife of all people brought up the fact if dad were to transfer his small collection of tractors one day to me, we would have to start paying property taxes on each tractor every year. Surely you don"t have to report all of them do you?

you are supposed to report them all but some people dont the property tax on the old tractors is very minimal would be hard to get caught unless the accessor came out and looked

What part of Missouri are you in? We are in the south east part in Bollinger County. The assessor said the same thing, but did not want to give someone the opportunity to give me a head ache with the county.

In Missouri you have to pay taxes on personal property? Real Estate and income is taxable but personal property, I wasn't aware of that, certainly isn't taxable up here in Wisconsin.

In Missouri once some thing gets to a point its to old it is no longer on the tax form. I have 35 give or take a few tractors but pay no taxes on them because of how old they are. Yep I live in Missouri

Coming from MN I was happy to find taxes much lower here in MO. What I discovered is that there are other taxes and fees that go to the government. I guess services are paid for somehow.

As to hiding from the assessor, not in my county at least. She is out every spring as soon as the weather starts getting settled. Nice lady, we usually visit a while by the gate when she comes. We're just finishing a pole building workshop, so I know she'll be out next spring for a look-see.

And yes, taxes on old tractors are either low or non-existent, so it is just not worth concealing.

Yes we pay on cars, trucks, trailers, tractors, but my taxes this year are $1700.00,40ac 5 year old house, store in town. the same stuff in IL(15 miles away) would be at least $5000.00. Mine went way up because we voted to build a new school house.

You folks need to get someone elected that will change it if thats the case. Bad enough we have to pay sales tax on EVERYTHING here except groceries. Yet pop is taxed. I guess they don't consider it a consumable. I sure don't water the lawn with it or buy it to look at....

I have a couple tractors and report them each year but have yet to get taxed for them.

They charge us for everything In WV will even charge for riding lawnmower. So just don't turn in. If they catch you just tell them you just bought this year.
