Economic issues and tractor company in one post

Heard from a friend that the Montana Tractor Co has reached an agreement to take over Farmtrac and parts production will start soon. This is from the local Farmtrac dealer. Anyone else heard any more rumors (or facts) about this?

A poster on tractorbynet in the All other forums has some links to the local newspaper in Tarboro, N.C. that report that it is true. Montana purchased the assets of Farmtrac North America for 14 million at auction. I can"t see how this helps anything because Escorts lmtd makes the actual tractor in India anyway. There is a good discussion there on the entire mess, and one post indicates that these tractors were made overthere for sometime for Ford anyway.

Good news! I have an older Long tractor, made by UTB in Romania. Farmtrac had continued good parts support for the Long tractors. The nearest Montana dealer was a Long and Ford dealer some years ago. And he continued to service my Long. I hope the parts support continues.
