what is your favorite hunting weapon. mine would be the bow and arrow , longer hunting season and more of a challenge than a rifle

If I had time, bow and arrow. Since I dont, it's a Winchester Super X2, shooting Brenneke Black Magic 1 3/8 oz slugs. Shot 6 deer the last 43 years and every deer dropped within 5 yards with a hole in the heart. Would be nice to have more reach, but I just do not like wounding or tracking deer.

SKS 7.62 x 39 with full sized scope and deflector shield.Shot 11 pointer last night, saw a nice 12 tonight.I shoot 2 or 3 deer every year and love it.Its also good for coyotes and fox

1. .240 Weatherby
2. T/C inline muzzle loader
3. several others - depends on quary.

And yes, I love semi autos. Have some, use regularly.

Last thing I killed anything with was the pitman stick from a JD#5 mower. Caught a coyote hiding in the barn on one of my places. He was hiding behind some duals and I started after him with a hammer, but I decided I wanted something longer. Thought at first he was weakened by mange, but he had good fur and looked healthy. I like my 870 super mag, for goose and turkey
Thompson center triumph muzzle loader is my choice for deer this year, starting Friday. Will be my first time using a muzzle loader, should be fun. Lets hope I can sit in the 16 degree temps for awhile.

Depends on what I'm hunt'n and where.

Mossberg 500 12ga for featherd critters and some small game.

Deer and Coyote some where where I will likey have a shot over 100 yds, Savage 110 in 243.

Deer and coyote where I am going to have a close shot Mini 14, also serves as the truck gun when the wife don't have it.

Late season tree rats, I like my 10/22.

Just for giggles, I also like hunt'n squirels with a Rugar Mk II pistol, good times.

When and if I ever have time to shoot it and bow hunt I have a old Polaris Express.

One the wish list right now is Rugar PC 9 for the wife to have at the house so I can keep the Mini 14 in the truck. Wonder if that would make a good christmas gift of her on our first year of marrage?

Old lever action Winchester 45 rifle for the big stuff, a Winchester lever action 22 rifle for the small stuff and 2 Colt 45 revolvers for fun. All were my Grandfathers guns....James

I have owned and shot alot of rifles but my all time best rifle is a Remington 700 bdl in a 25/06 cal,i am not saying that I never missed but if it was hit it went into the frezzer

Just found this pic on the web and copy/pasted it- these aren't my dogs and I'm not in the picture....my appologies if anyone reading this recognizes themselves in the pic!

But I do have a pack of those speed demons myself and THEY(the dogs) are by far my favorite "hunting weapon"!!!

Like what tractor do I need it depends.

Any small centerfire is good on song dogs.

If you are going to be hunting small fields and woods I LOVE my mini 14 with a peep sight.

If you are hunting open contry any 223, 22-250 type round up to 243 or even 25-06 is great in a solid bolt action with a 4-12 or so X 40+mm name brand scope will work great. If you can see if you have friends that will let you shoot a few differnt brands and models and see which one feels best to you. I have an old Savage 243 that is ok but the trigger sucks on it, feels like an old pellet gun. The new savages with the accu triger I think it's call are realy sweet guns for the money.

Grandpa's old JC Higgins bolt action 12 gauge is pretty good medicine for deer. Varmint, Romanian Trainer 22LR. I do like my Mathews Z-Max bow but I dont seem to get time to go hunting with it.

My favorite is my Bowtech Tribute, great bow.

That said, with the wife going back to school and three kids from 11 to 6, bow hunting isn`t in the cards. I`m forced to take a couple year break.

Next is my Rem 1187, cantilevered, rifled slug barrel and Leupold scope. Basically as close to a rifle as you can get in a slug gun...

177cal, Daisy pellet gun with scope(rodent gun)
20 gauge, WesternField shotgun(slug and bird gun)
16 gauge, Sears and Robuck double-barrel shotgun (Bird gun)was my grampas, I only let both barrels go once.(OUCH)

Hello mr English. I bought a russian Bycal (spelling is all wrong) over and under 308 over 12 guage for the same thing. the 308 in great for distance while larger buckshot is good for close shots running. hope this helps bill

Horton Hunter express crossbow, Ruger Superblackhawk .44 for deer and Thompson Center Seneca .50 cal for muzzleloader

I use a Colt HBAR AR-15 with a 3x9 scope that mounts on top of the carrying handle. That lets you use the iron sights for up close and have the benefits of the scope at longer ranges. Its tough, durable, and not much on it is prone to rust.

Supposibly Ruger refreshed the tooling on the mini-14 production line and improved accurancy.
Many years ago I had one but it was so sloppy it could shoot around corners.
Got rid of the turkey as 4" groups at 100yrd were the best that could be tuned into it.

I put a scope on our ranch rifle mini 14 and it was all over the place too. I doubt they are much better now. Ruger has had alot of accuracy problems with the guns they make.

.177 Ruger pelt rifle for rodents.
20 gauge Remington for snakes and birds(and unfortunate trespassers)
12 gauge Mossburg for snakes and birds(and unfortunate trespassers)
M1 grand for deer and hogs.

marlin 336 35 caliber lever action with a 3x9 scope, takes care of most big game in central mi. But if Im triing to kill the soup cans that take over the garage floor my dads 71 remington nylant 99 22 caliber semi auto is so much fun I almost poop.

Browning BAR 30-06. It has dropped a lot of deer and several coyote. For Birds it's a Browning A-5 20 guage throwing improved cylinder. For peace of mind I like a Ruger Redhawk 44 mag.Nothing could stare down the business end of a Redhawk and not reconsider their situation.

243 Weatherby Vangaurd for deer
7mm stw for bear and deer
12 gauge squirrels
22 mag 20 gauge over under for turkeys

My 96 Dodge for everything 8 deer, 1 bear, thousands of squirrels, 2 turkeys

Where do you hunt where the coyoties are that small.

Here you can hit an 8" circle and kill one pretty dead.

Dear, well if you can hit a 2.5 gallon chemical jug at a give'n range you can kill a deer.

Please post pics of your pigmy song dogs you are hunting.
