OT: old clocks

Anybody collect and/of fix old clocks?
I've got an old clock that I picked up at a flea market.Wife says it's ugly (never did like that woman...). Anyway, it's in the way and it's easier to get rid of the clock than the wife. Dime a dozen here, so it's not worth trying to sell it. It looks real close to this one (only picture I could find on the net).

Probably needs a little tinkering, one hand is loose. If someone is interested, I'll send it to you. Just have to send me back what I paid for postage which shouldn't be much.

I went through a period about 30 years ago when I was building (crude) clocks; buying the kits from Klockit and mounting them in walnut slabs. Have got a short attention span, so I moved on to something else in a few months. Have you looked on e-bay to see what something similar is selling for; could list it on there.

I would agree with your wife that it's ugly, but that doesn't mean it's not worth some money. If it were me, I'd look online to find someone who deals with antique clocks and who could guesstimate a value for it. Hate to see anyone give away a clock and find out later it's worth several hundred bucks.

On the other hand, maybe it's only worth a few bucks. I sure wouldn't know.

How 'bout if I just send you my wife and keep the clock??? Then, I could get a Grandfather Clock, and a Big A$$ Black Forest Coocoo Clock. Some folks just don't appreciate fine art.......

I don't imagine it's worth anything. Here, they may bring a few bucks on ebay. That's why I'd rather give it away to someone that appreciates it (and don't say it's ugly)...

I don't think I want the wife, I got rid of one a few years back. Got a second one now. I don't know if it's more expensive to keep them or get away from one. I've always wanted one of the Black Forest clocks, I'm afraid to ask but how expensive are they?

As much or as little as you want to spend.. Saw them for less than 50 bucks and more than a thousand. 250 bucks will get a nice 20 inch tall clock with a hunter motif and 8 day works. Can get some real nice smaller ones with a one day works for around 50. Used to be able to buy kits to put together yourself but I haven't seen them lately.

Not trying to be difficult, but I have several antique clocks, and also have seen quite a few, and that example is "homely" at best.

Get in line Bud! Big Fred's already got dibbs.......

Guess it's something you just have to see and like or dislike. Makes no difference, someone is already getting it. Either make a nice conversation piece or firestarter.
