Tractors with a drive shaft

I remember seeing an old tractor that had the engine and transmission connected by an external drive shaft with a couple of universal joints in it.

Can you guys tell me what models were built like that?

Thanks,
JP.

I think the Massey-Harris 44 was that way, maybe some of the other M-H's, and maybe some Allis-Chalmers, too.

The Oliver 1600,1700, 1800, 1900 series had a short drive shaft coming from the clutch to transmision with a chaft inside for the live PTO

The L, LA, & LI's are a great example of that. No U-Joints though. There are "spiders" on each end of the drive shaft with fiber disks that connect the driveshaft on both ends.

My garden tractor has a driveshaft. There's no u-joints, but it does have neophrene spacers or biscuits so they can flex. Bought it new in 1971.
