What do you guys think of it. I only have one feild that will be corn on corn, actually 3rd year corn. Is this the conditions I should be using the corn borer trait? Is using this trait on small grain/soybean ground a waste of money? Hey, what I havent learned yet, I have to ask.

I know us guys here in eastern Canada love it.Especially if wind can be a problem, the bugs weaken the stalks and make it much more prone to serious crop damage from winds.

I use it on corn on corn Dave.

I use Bt corn everywhere else except on my refuge acres.

Don't forget your refuge acres and if your acreage is low its hard to do the refuge.

It may be easier to plant conventional and use an insecticide on small plots.

The rootworm corn and corn borer corn does pay for itself.

Your seed man should be able to help you make your decisions.

It is only worth the extra cost IF you have the cornborer pressure. Lot of guys have been convinced by mother Monsato, Becks, Pioneer, etc. that they must plant triple stacks and quad stacks. Dumb us, we don't plant those expensive seeds and surprisingly our yields are just as good. However, we just plain don't have the insect pressures on our sand here YET. Been proven several times by splitting the planter with traited and non traited seeds.

I have to use the triple stack corn here NE of Osage, IA in a corn soybean rotation. I remember that a gal from the University of MN said the genetic resistant corn is 95% effective, but the applied rootworm chemical was only 15% to 20% effective.
