8N Problem

I had my 8N rebuilt by a guy and I have had problems since. I need help. The tractor is now hard to start and blows a lot of white smoke when first started. I have to run with the choke about half open for about 15 minutes before the tractor will run properly. This past weekend I could not get it to start. When trying to crank it it will begin to start then die all the while blowing white smoke.

sounds like you need a carb rebuild and a head gasket. a good 8n will run perfect

Well, if it were me, I would get the person that did the work correct the problem. Sounds like coolant is getting in the cylinders (white smoke). Sounds like the leak is getting worse. Probably a head gasket leaking. Did he have the head checked and machined true? Those flat heads will warp some if mistreated during a previous life. If you have had problems with this ever since he worked on it, it should be his responsibility to correct his mistake. Don't let him just pour a can of stop leak in the radiator. The problem may go away for a while, but will come back to haunt you down the road.

What doe you mean by term "rebuilt"?
Is the guy shade-tree, have a shop, dealer or what?
Did you get itemized parts?
What was agreed as to machine shop work?
What did you pay?
How did it run before work was done?
How long you had it?
Impossible to help with limited info you have supplied.
