Clearance for chains

Just purchased chains for the 1939 A/C Modle B and it"s going to be a tight fit between the tire and the seat frame the chains that came with the tractor were way to large and the larger links would hit the seat frame that"s why I bought new ones the right size. It was
suggested to me to turn the wheels around because there off set and this would give me the extra space needed for the chains.Rather not do this unless I really have to is there any other way to fit those chains?

As long as it doesn't hit it I would say it's fine. The problem is that when you get into a high traction area the chains could become slack on one side and tight on the other and it could get 2 inches of slack and grab the seat. The same idea as a tire grabing a fender or door only your on it.

If you have some clearance and try it be sure to use heavy rubber tarp straps going across in several places on the outside as these make good tighteners to help keep them from whipping around.

Beleive me if there isn't at least 3 iches between the fenders and the tires so as to clear the chain you will want to make clearance or you will pay in the long run BTDT and found out the hard way and it cost me big $$ because of it on my W Speed Patrol
Hobby farm

I'll second that. The loose ends of the chains on my Super C slap the fenders if left loose. A few black bungees made short work of the noise.
